Attendance

Support for improving attendance is available at our school. If you are having difficulty getting your child into school or getting into a positive routine at the start of your day, our pastoral team can help! We also have details and guidance available from different services which are there to help so please do not be afraid to get in touch. It is really important that children arrive at school on time so that they can start the school day positively.

If your child is unwell, please contact the school office by calling 01455 212393 or email stmargarets@ipat.uk.

Please note the school are unable to authorise any holidays in term time. However if you wish to request a leave of absence for your child please complete the form below and return to the school office.

    Did you know?

Absence disrupts the education of the individual pupil and the whole class. Are you aware those children who do not attend regularly:

    • do not achieve well in exams
    • find it difficult to maintain friendships
    • are more likely to become involved in crime
    • miss out on opportunities in further education and the world of work?

    Every minute counts

Frequent absence can add up to a considerable amount of lost learning and can seriously disadvantage your child in adult life.

    • 5 minutes late every day means around 3 ½ days of education are missed
    • a score of 90% in a test would be a good result but 90% attendance means that a child will have missed around 100 lessons over a school year.

    St Margaret's Attendance Leaflet:

Please take a look at the leaflet below to see how we can support you with your child and their attendance.  Please remember that communication is key - if we don't know that they may be struggling to come into school for anything other than being poorly, we can't help.  Making sure that we all communicate regularly will mean we can make sure strategies are put in place to support you if needed.
